Reading a book on medieval painting techniques, "The Materials and Techniques of Medieval Painting" by Daniel V. Thompson (pg 142) that I bought at GWW. I found my daughter's name is that of a flower found in Provençale France, botanically known as Crozophora tinctoria, but known locally there as maourèla or maurelle. It provides a purple dye that can also be red, or blue, depending on adding acids to the dye. The English called it turnsole.
And we were trying NOT to name her a flower outside her middle name.
