I was going through links to images of interest from various A&S entries, to give me an idea of what's out there before. And I came across
this one again, which I really, really liked when I first saw it. I loved all the beadwork, which look mostly to be pearls. And the fabric is lovely!
Well... now, after my own research and work on what I did, I can see the flaws in it, too. It is beautiful, but it is not quite right. The sleeves are the area that I think needs more fullness, a lot more fullness especially in the upper half. I don't see a petticoat peeking out from under. The wrist turn-back ruffs (what would they be called if they aren't ruffled?) seem a little too high. And the neck ruff doesn't appear to be in those perfect figure-eights we see in the portraits (but it could be if seen at a different angle). But at least the ruff isn't burnt, so that's a big plus!
That's the darn thing with research... once your eyes know better, it makes it that much harder to accept what you once accepted.
