Fashion book review

Well, last night I finished the fashion book I blogged about before. It was overall very informative, and I learned a few new things in it. But... it was written by 20 different women, who did not all agree on some things, and nothing was dealt with in any real depth. Sort of like 20 beginner classes in one book, so you get a decent overview on

That is a great way to learn. I used to watch the show on with the two Brittish ladies, who eventually wrote a book, and that's what started the American version. I liked it with the two Brits, but when it became American, I didn't like the nasty attacks I was seeing with Stacey and her male partner. Not like the brits weren't catty, they were, but they seemed more helpful overall. I even bought the Brits book, and checked out the book from the TLC people from the library once.

My thing was, there is something there I am not getting, that I wasn't seeing with my body type and coloring. Yes, I do agree that they do offer a lot of great advice every episode, but for me... I wasn't seeing people of my color or shape getting a makeover by these people, so it wasn't sinking in what would work for me. With their books I did get a better sense of proportions, and it's been awhile since I read their book (which I need to get out again), so I am seeing some things that are working, or not working for me. But it is the fine details now that I want to hone, and I am also trying to figure out what general styles I do or don't like at this point.

And I used to tivo them in my sewing room tv, since the kids or husband watch things in the main room most of the time, but then they would run those marathons of shows, and I would run into overflow with no time to watch them all, and ended up watching ones I had seen already. So I dumped the setup. I just couldnt' sew and watch them at the same time, because I actually had to *watch* them.
