Pretty fabric

Forgot to mention that yesterday I went to the fabric store. I needed buttonhole twist, as the only colors I have right now are red. Bright red. So, I decided to pick up some other basic colors, including a grey for my eyelets.

I walked away with a bolt of unknown fiber fabric, pretty cheap per yard, that will not be for a "costume"!! OH My Goodness!!! What was I thinking?

Well... I am thinking it was pretty, and I rarely get "smitten" by a pretty fabric anymore that isn't silk or something. It looks to be a sari-like material in that it has two ends that are pretty with colors and flowers, but a plain shade of green in the section between the two pretty colorful ends. But not a sari pattern in the classic sense. Each section is a little less than 2 yards in length.

I think it is rayon fiber, but I need to do a burn test. Sadly, there is no fiber content given on the bolt end.

I was thinking of making a duster originally, but now... I am thinking a tea dress, a la 1820s sorta or similar, with the soft flowing fabric, because it is a soft flowing fabric. Or maybe something Edwardian-ish. I don't want a "costume", but I do want a lovely dress inspired by something historical, that takes advantage of those pretty ends.

I think I need to do some design hunting, to see what catches my eye. And all because I just needed some thread.
