Clean again, clean again (someday), jiggity jig.

Once again, I am moved to do something about my home. I know, this is an old record being played, my needing to clean up my messy home. However, I feel like I am suffocating in the mess, and it is frustrating me to work on an area only to have the kids mess it up again.

This time, I am taking a somewhat different tact, *and* going back to the Flylady method of doing a portion of my home every week. The other methods were not working for me. I am also going to focus first on areas that has the least amount of kid traffic, in the hopes they will remain clean while I work on the kids dominated parts of the home. I did M's room last week, and it became messy within a day (sigh).

Another change this time, is I am uploading and going to share my progress photos, room by room. I got this idea from Squalor Survivors, which looked inspiring, if a bit scary. I am starting this week with my sewing room, since I really need to streamline my sewing notions so I can find what I need when I need it, and not have to hunt them down. I also need to trim down my stash, and sell off or give away the fabrics I know I won't be using again. I've done some of that already, but need to continue, and then to organize what I do keep so I will know what I have and where I have it.

So, here are the first set of photos, in thumbnails, which you can click to view the gory details. Yes, that is a cluttered mess in my room, but at least there isn't any messy foods hidden under the piles.

I have since cleaned up the area behind the entry door, which was mostly boxes which are broken down, and either tossed, or in the garage with other boxes. The stuff on the floor has been picked up, clothing folded nicely and put in my closet for now, a box of fabric sorted with sellables in a bag, pictures waiting for hanging (will do tonight), note boards waiting for hanging, as is a printers tray (for my threads). The dress dummy has been photographed for eBay then bagged and put in the garage, and the tape double is on top of my bookshelf. I eventually want to toss it, but it is a sad (but needed) reminder of where I once was, so I want to photograph it with the new dress dummy once thats in and fitted. The ironing board is back on its hanger, and some items have found a home in the closet for now. The Egyptian print is awaiting a good location, and my tall door mirror is awaiting holders to be attached to the wall behind the door. And the floor has been vacuumed.

So, tonight I am going to tackle the cubicle shelf, and the pile in front of it. I also need to decide what to do with my scraps, as I have two small bags of them, and I don't know what to do with them at all. I don't do dolls, and they aren't fancy fabrics, mainly cottons I think, with a little linen and maybe some small silk pieces. Hmmm... so I need to look at them and see what I can do, other than cutting them up for compost or something.

Well, back to work. More photos, and updates, during the rest of the week.
