Some weeds gone!

Well, that was not fun, but it was needed.

Cam and I just cleared a large patch of weeds in the small garden bed near the dining room windows. The only thing growing there right now (besides the weeds) is a mini-red rose bush (a Valentines gift that is still giving me smiles). Now the weeds are pretty much gone, and the bed had been worked a bit to loosen the soil. Next up is some weed block for awhile, until I get some herb seedlings ready to go in. So I need to figure out which herbs, and grow some seedlings, too. I was going to put in some wood mulch to just keep the weeds out, but then I would need to amend the soil, add in some better topsoil, and hence have to remove that mulch... best to just add that in later.

Cam has earned a quarter for his efforts. And he is no longer afraid of weeds! Yeah, he was afraid the weeds would hurt him somehow. Now he knows he just has to pull, and wear gardening gloves.

So I am taking a small break (that was about 1.5 hours of work), dealing with some wash, and figuring out what to do next (a nap would be nice, but unlikely).

Oh, I also ordered the lavender that I wanted, "lavendin grosso", and the nursery will be getting English lavender in the next couple of weeks. That will be nice for my soaps and potporrie. My Spanish lavender in the front is already starting to bloom, with one single flower already opening in a deep color of purple.
