Damn it!
{grumble...} the Ren-Symposium has been placed the same weekend as Chivalry Tourney, which is a local SCA event I've been wanting to attend (and take Cam to).
RS worked better for me when it was early in February. Now, while it is a bit closer at Modesto, I was hoping to make Chivalry, since I knew I was going to be missing Treasure Chest. Hmmm...

Renaissance Symposium 2008 is on. This year we will hold our event at Double Tree and Convention Center in Modesto, February 22- through 24th. We’re in the middle of finalizing all contracts so please keep an eye out on http://rensymposium.com website for updates and such. For those interested in teaching, please start pulling together your submissions for classes. We will start the review process shortly. Classes as always will revolve around improve, costuming, bfa, history, music and dance and other topics. We will also offer a series of marketing, faire operations and vendor related classes. One topic that we lacked last year was Scottish history. I’d love to see this topic covered added to our repertoire. For that matter, do you have a suggestion for a topic? Send it my way…

So, now to chose which to do... a day of local SCA, which is mostly watching the local fighters fighting, and a bit of socializing with the locals (new friends), or a three day weekend of teaching others about ren-costuming, with maybe some time for taking classes and some socializing with old faire friends. And paying for lodging, food, car rental and gas, unless I can find someone local to share the costs of the car rental and gas this year (no luck last year, so I took a friend who was between jobs, since it would cost me the same either way). I will have a good roommate, with margorose at least.
And margorose, have you heard anything else from Bill on classes? I've heard nothing.
... I just wanted to be able to attend a local SCA event, as it now appears that the first I can go to... will be Baronial Anniversary in July! Maybe I can hope that the local SCA Pirate event will not be the same weekend as our ren-faire Pyrate event.
