Taking a break...

,,, from my attachment of the jewels and beads, to make the edge of the Tudor kirtle. It looks great, and I will definitely have enough of the ouches to make the complete neckline. I am just not sure how far back to set the ouches and pearls (plastic), since part of the gown covers up the back area. I may just run the rest of the back as pearls. So far, I've done half the neckline, and I am pretty happy with how it is working out.

Edit: I didn't realize until just now how heavy polymer clay and plastic pearls can be on a neckline. Good thing those aren't glass pearls. And while I prefer real pearls, I could not have afforded the larger potato freshwater or cultured pearls for this thing. Not that many strands.

Earlier I dropped by Ancient Pathways, the soon-to-be-Baroness/current Chatelaine's yarn store in our Tower District. She had the other half of the gift we are working on for the current Baroness, for when she steps down on Friday. Meg liked the work, and wants one for when she steps down, should I still be around. That made me feel good about it, even tho I wasn't too happy with the stylized Phoenix I created. But then a Phoenix is hard to do in one color of gold with minimal embellishments as an applique. And I did take pics, but with my film camera, so again it will be a bit before I can post them.

I already forsee that I will be busy at my scanner for a few weeks after my current run of sewing projects is done.

So, I am thinking ahead a little, and I want to do something new for Kearney Faire. Part of me was thinking an English hood, but that faire was the original reason I wanted to make a French hood, since my character is daughter of the dowager French Queen, Mary Tudor. It is also set in the 1540s, so having a French hood is more appropriate.

Ooooh, the faire is usually set during the time of farthingales. And I have all of the materials to make one. Oh, maybe I can make one up using the Alcega design, and the TT pattern which I actually got for the French farthingale. But I think it would work, although I don't know how much I will have to take it in later when I drop more weight. I will have to think about it.

I do know I need to stiffen my partlet, as it is not one I am happy with being uninterlined at all. I think I want a good interlining, and padstitch the neckline so it will stand up better.

Well, back to work for a bit more before I head in for the evening news.
