I am in a better mood today. Having gotten that issue off of my chest, and getting feedback from friends really helped.
I may be getting into a new guild, at least for the northern CA faires. Not that I want to get into a new guild, but the premise, of doing activities that are period appropriate, educational, and for us to be period appropriate in our garb and striving for ourselves to be period dressed as well as we can, just sounds good to me right now. It would also cover those faires that IoM don't seem to be interested in attending anymore. We shall see, it's in a chat stage on a mailing list, which may move to its own mailing list, and nothing in my mind is set in stone.
I've also done more work on my loose kirtle, getting the final parts of it put together, and sewing on the bindings around the neck. Half done on that this afternoon, with the rest pinned for me to do tonight. I hope to be sewing the eyelets starting next week to be done in time for Collegium. Photos eventually.
And I have a new commission in the beginning stages. It will be completely out of my time period, but a friend wants a
1760s frock coat for a major larping event, which I used to enjoy long ago. He just ordered the pattern, so I can't wait to find out how this goes together, so I can use the info learned in making another one for another friend who wanted something similar. I think I can do this in time, as I have a month to make it in.
That means I do have to finish my personal project asap, which considering Collegium next week is the reason why I am even finishing it.
Hmmm... other stuff to do as well. I should list them, so I can check them off, and know what I have to focus on.
In no particular order- Make forepart with matching foresleeves (with fake puffs) for my Tudor
- Make gift for outgoing Baroness
- Finish new French hood (optional)
- Finish loose kirtle (binding, eyelets, hem)
- Refit Tudor kirtle and gown
- Make the frock coat
Yeah, that list should do for now, for the next month or so.
Well, off to do more hand sewing.
