National Day 2006
Singapore will be 41 in 3 days. Part of National Day celebrations has always been the hanging of the National Flag outside residences. Is it me, or has something really changed? Two years ago, when I first moved into my flat, almost the whole block had the National Flag flying. This year, there are only about five. Yes, 5! This is part of a GRC that was not contested during the elections in May. Is it a reflection of the apathy in the country, or the resentment with the government's high-handed attitude? Is it that Singaporeans can no longer see the difference between the country and the government? Food for thought...
