The Journey is the Reward

Perhaps it is the utilitarian in us that expects, for every journey embarked, there must be a destination. Else, it would be a waste of resources to embark on that said journey. Perhaps it is a "Western" idea, or is it inculcated in us through our education system (Singapore being a resource-scarce country)? But what is life then? All life is then, a journey to the grave. If viewed that way, we might as well just wait for our deaths; since naked we come, and naked, we go. Perhaps we should all just buy ferry tickets to Batam...

Then, there is the very oriental theory, that you try to enjoy the journey as much as possible, whether you know your destination, or not. This way, life is a whole lot more meaningful. Perhaps we take things too seriously, and forget that what we have in the now, may never be ours again.

Indeed, there are many roads to travel on, none are wrong or right. The greatest mistake is to fail to learn from each journey. As for choices? I think we should be less afraid of making them, afraid of the wrong choice. For is there a really wrong choice, if we learn from it?
