Today is the first day of my thin life.

Lately I have had the appetite of a woolly mammoth. And my eating habits are getting worse and worse.

Most days, I'll have something to drink and eat some fake meat for breakfast. Once I'm at work, I'll usually caffeinate myself and see how long I can go before I have to grab some sort of granola or breakfast bar from my purse ( Read more... )

The snacking is perfectly fine, in terms of how often is is. What about swapping carrot sticks and grapes for granola bars, though? Granola bars and breakfast bars are surprisingly high-calorie.

Also, maybe you should snack earlier -- the hungrier you let yourself get, the less effectively you actually eat.

Thanks for the advice. I should definitely switch to something healthier, but raw veggie snacks totally turn me off. Maybe if I had no other options, I'd be more willing to change. I just wish that healthy (and easy to prepare) foods tasted good.

God, I hear you there. This Weight Watchers thing is giving me fits, because I either hate or can't eat most of their suggestions, and after three weeks I'm incredibly sick of what few options I have. If I have to eat another salad this week I'm going to go Godzilla on my local supermarket.

What's even worse is trying to get Dan to come along with it. He's gained a lot of weight and wants to eat better but he's like a two-year-old: only likes about three things and one of them is pizza. *sigh*

I know that weight watchers is a point system, so, couldn't you, in theory, eat most anything? Or is the problem that most things you want are too many points?

I think I'd like to try Jenny Craig because they provide the food. Then I'd just eat what was in my little frozen dinner and that'd be it. Surely they'd make snacks.

God, I'm hungry again. :(

Yes, you get to pick whatever you want, but if you're only supposed to use 26 points the whole day, and that sandwich is 11 points...

All bets are off with me this week, though. I'm still keeping track but if I go over during my thesis week -- which has tons of extra stress, not nearly enough sleep, and the constant snack-to-work impulse -- I'm not going to stress about it. This is probably the least healthy week I'll have in 2005 until the week I move to New York, and a special exemption week here and there won't kill me.

Ahh, that makes sense. I remember another person was on Weight Watchers and was saving up points so that she could have McDonald's for breakfast. I guess the system really makes you think about what it is that you want to eat and if it's worth it.

And I don't blame you for not being as strict while you're writing your thesis. I probably would've dunked my head in a vat of chocolate by now if I were you.
