drabblefix, but as we've all learned by now, I can't keep within one-hundred words to save my life. :P This is for valhalla37, because my writer's block on the other one has become shameful at this point!

“Daniel, if we were on a date-” Charlotte can’t believe she’s doing this so soon after her latest relationship disaster, but the concert’s over, and Miles has disappeared, and there’s something strangely magnetic about this man with the silly hat and sincere eyes.
“If we were-”he raises his eyebrows like he’s become disoriented by the hypothetical.
“If we were dating, and you made me mad, what would you do…to apologize?”
He still looks puzzled, so she says, “You know: flowers, jewelry, beer? That sort of thing.”
“Beer?” he repeats in bewilderment, glancing briefly at the cocktail glass in her hand.
“Forget it,” she laughs, looks down at herself, shaking her head: He probably thinks she’s an alcoholic. But just as she’s starting to gather her things, he looks up at her, his eyes warm and brown and shining.
“Chocolate,” he says suddenly, his voice surer than she has ever yet heard it, and strangely, for just a moment, the word brings tears into her eyes.
