Name(s): Rangiku, anyone who wants to take Charms (or just wants to visit Ran, because she's that awesome.) Location: Charms Classroom Day: Day 4 Time: Morning Rating: PG (Unless something wildly exciting happens?)
Al walked in and blinked. Wait, she was sleeping? Seriously? Well. He figured he'd better wake her up before the others came in. "Professor?" he called.

She flashed Al a grin. It was always nice when someone voluntarily sat at the front.
"Turn your books to the section on Unbreakable Charms. It's bludger season, and we all need to be able to protect our belongings." Watching as the young Gryffindor in front of her found the page, she reached over and picked up the book, her eyes skimming the pages. "Used to make the object unbreakable... not to be used on organic matter... makes things hard to break?" She rolled her eyes at the book. "No kidding."
Snapping the book shut, Ran returned her full attention to her students. "Oooo-kay. Al, why do you think a wizard would want or need to use an Unbreakable Charm?"

"... Yes. But, also to keep others from finding something they've hidden--" she sat on the edge of Al's desk as she spoke to the class, "-- or for a makeshift battering item in a duel." Rangiku's hand was resting on Al's book and she leaned forward a little as she spoke, completely oblivious to his discomfort. "Admittedly in duels you're less likely to be using a hand-to-hand weapon..." she trailed off, realising that this wasn't a duelling class and she probably shouldn't be giving the students advice on fighting techniques. "They're just useful. Trust me."

"The book is lame," Rangiku replied lightly. She looked down at Al, shifting slightly so that her girls didn't block him from her line of sight

"Good." Pushing up her sleeves, Ran raised her wand. "This is pretty simple, but you need to be careful with your aim. This is not to be used on people. Trying to make your House's Seeker Unbreakable might seem like a good idea, but... just believe me, it's not." She shuddered theatrically.
Of course, she hadn't tried to make the team Seeker unbreakable, it had been some idiot who'd been trying to hit on her and intelligently made a comment on Hufflepuff being pathetic. Luckily for him, she'd only aimed at his leg. Ah. Memories.
Breaking out of her brief reverie, Ran demonstrated the motion for the charm, slow and exaggerated. "The first motion flows, and the second is almost like a snap towards whatever you are trying to hit. See?" She did it again. "Remember, when you're actually using the spells your movements don't need to be over the top, even though that's a lot of fun. Spells can be done subtly, and sometimes subtle is better. Especially if you don't want to call attention to whatever it is you are trying to make

Ran watched as Al cast the spell. His emphasis had seemed a little off, but the motions of his wand had been accurate.
"Looking good, Al." She beamed at him happily and then looked at the egg. Without a moment of warning she poked it off the desk with her wand, watching as it rolled lazily and fell to the floor and landed with a crunch.
"You almost had it," she informed him as she zapped the egg away and another appeared on his desk. "Nulaffredo. More on the 'aff', less on the 'do.'" Leaning on his desk, she watched him expectantly. "Try again?"

Sighing, she lifted her head. "Or, I could do my job. Life is so cruel." Rangiku stretched and pushed herself out of her chair.
"Good morning, Al."

"Hiding objects, Professor?" he asked. "Can you explain more about that? It's not in the book."
