For almost five straight years, Kairi had been the epitome of a goody-two-shoes. Always on time to class, always in bed before curfew, never sneaking around to anyplace off-limits.

Lately, she had started to rethink this strategy. Sneaking out every once in a while wasn't such a bad thing, was it? Having been here so long and having missed out on some of the things her close friends had dared to do made her feel left out. And now, most of those friends were gone... and she was still here, left out, wondering how being good all the time had really benefited her ( ... )

He hadn't been waiting long, but he was getting the heebie jeebies waiting around for her. He was certain there would be a teacher or someone to catch them. There hadn't been an incident yet and he was grateful.

He smiled at her when she finally emerged. "Ready?" he mumbled. Times like these, he wished he was better at casting spells. He was beginning to learn a few of them better thanks to her tutelage; he still had a lot to learn. A mute spell would have come in real handy about now.

He headed down the hallway, keeping an eye out for any teachers or staff. He breathed a small sigh of relief as they made it outside. One hurdle down.

"When you are," She replied with a grin.

Kairi was getting much better at sneaking around. She still wasn't the best at it, but she had Jayne to pull her to the side in case she was being too loud or he saw someone coming. So they made it to the Astronomy Tower without too much worry, getting lucky enough not to run into any patrolling professors.

"Have you been practicing the spells we went over yesterday?" She whispered, as they started to ascend the steps.

It was a clear night, luckily enough. There were enough cloudy days he was worried they wouldn't have a clear view of the sky. If they couldn't see the stars, he was certain it would have been much more difficult to persuade her up here. All this spending time together was something quite pleasing to him. Plus, she wasn't bad looking at all. He thought this plan was his best to date.

At her question, he grimaced. He'd practiced, all right. Just didn't get any decent results. He was pretty sure his wand was conspiring against him. his beloved Vera would never do this to him. Maybe he should have named his wand something other than 'Vera, too.' It was giving his gun a bad name.

"Yeah, kinda. They just don't always want to turn out right. I don't get it," he mumbled as they went up the steps. They were probably mostly in the clear by now. He still didn't want to risk getting caught before they reached their destination.
