Yesterday was really lax. Didn't do much of anything other than chill around the house. Took a nap mid-day, then made dinner for Grama and Grampa. Got to watch "Sugarland" in concert on Channel 7; they are teh awesome. I really need to get their new CD. Sugarland is this country band that I absolutely love. I only have their first two CDs but I got to see them in concert when they first came out back in August '05 at UA. They did a special Two-hour concert at Centennial Hall that my mom and lil' sees and I went to. It rawked. Their one-hour show that they did on TV was to promote a greatest hits DVD and CD that just came out yesterday. I'd like to get it; they put on a good stage show. Lots of fun. Couldn't sleep, so I watched Pete's Dragon, a super old Disney Movie that I used to watch when I was little. I don't remember it at all. My lil' Sees used to be OBSESSED with the movie, so I think I may have purposely forgotten it. Still, good movie, albeit a little bit on the silly side, and the 'would never happen in real life' side, but oh well. Finally crashed around 2am, then was up again about 3 or 4, then went back to sleep, was up again at 7, then Grama woke me up at 10am. Ugh.
Today we went grocery shopping and got a bunch of food for the week. I'm going to be doing most of the cooking so I grabbed a couple extra things, like some nummy stir-fry stuff that's premade and some other stuff. Got home and made a delicious chicken salad. I coarsly chopped up some roasted chicken, then added chopped celery, chopped cashews, seasoning, raisins and mayo. Mix it all up, put it on bread with cheese and tomato and WHOA is that a good sammich :o) After lunch I went off by myself for a bit. I went to the Ventura Pier and walked around for a bit. It saddened me to see a lot of shops having closed since the last time I was there. I got some ice cream and just strolled around for a bit. The sea breeze was really strong which made me happy; I love the smell of the ocean, it's a very soothing smell. I only stayed for about 2 hours wandering around into random shops and such. Headed back home, then Grampa and I busted out the guitars and played a few things together. I did HORRIBLY, but Grampa gave me a few pointers and such which was nice. I need to practice more is the big thing, but otherwise I seem to be on my way. OOOoooooh and I found the chords to "Least of my Kind" which made me giggle; I'm attempting to learn how to play it given I can remember how to play a D minor chord. I made dinner for us and it came out pretty good despite my screwing up the spinach. After dinner I played a bit more, then sang a couple songs for them. Both Grama and Grampa really enjoyed it a lot, especially the bawdy songs :o) I'm going to practice some more and sing some more tomorrow, but right now my fingers are a bit purple and swollen. I need to build up the callouses still so I'm working on that.
Tomorrow I'm getting up early so I can spend the morning (at least) at the beach. There's going to be a cleaning crew here in the morning so I figure I can sneak out while they're here and come back after lunch some time. I'm pretty excited; I'm hoping the beach won't be too busy so I'll be able to play in the water and not have to worry about my stuff getting stolen. I'm really looking forward to playing in the water. Getting to experience the feeling of weightlessness again will be so refreshing :o) And playing guitar with Grampa again :oD It's a special treat to be given the opportunity to play and learn from him. My Grampa used to be a country-western singer/player. He'd be one of those guys at country bars and such that you'd hear play. He was really good back in his prime. Nowadays he just kinda messes around on the guitar, but getting to play with him is a rare treat.
Grama's doing really well; aside from her feet swelling she's been walking and trying to keep on top of her eating and such. So far so good. Think positive thoughts.
