I'm known to escalate like elevators
I've noticed a rather curious phenomenon involving elevators and more specifically their buttons. I notice that people are always pushing elevator buttons that are already pushed. It's lit up, you can see that it has already been pushed, why do people repush the button when it's clear that someone has already done it. I see it with the elevator call buttons as well as the floor selection buttons. I'm a fairly perceptive person and I can usually at least think of a reason why people might do the things that they do, it might not necessarily be right but at least I can think of a reason, for this I can't come up with anything. Any thoughts?
