finding old friends and loosing them

I don’t believe in good luck, tarot cards or fortune cookies. But you have to admit, a bit of non sweet crunch following dinner at a chinese restaurant is really nice. :) and it’s fun to read the little proverbs (as that’s what they are, more often then not.) Towards the end of last year, though, I found my note in a cookie to be laughable, but later interesting. It said that I would make new friends and be reacquainted with old ones. Well, I almost never run into old friends and although I occasionally meet new people, they don’t become friends.

This ’prophecy’ has proven true, though. Nearly every time I go somewhere I run into someone from my old church. I have found lots of college friends on myspace and elsewhere when I had been looking for them in the past and couldn’t find them. (y’all know who you are- so happy to become re-aquainted!)

I also have two new friends, one of whom I have spent a good deal of time with lately. She’s a real blessing in my life.

Sadly, one of these old friends made new again has decided I am not a good testimony on her myspace page. I have some friends that have chosen alternate lifestyles and while I don’t agree with it, they are my friends and I WIL NOT turn my back on them. Jesus chose to love, not stone. I am the last person to be judging them. They are hurting no one, and I love them.

I am sad to loose this friend, as she and I have chosen a well ridiculed path in life and could use all the support we can get from fellow sisters in Christ. But that’s ok, because she is doing what she feels she should do- and I respect her for that. And I am doing what I believe I should do, and I hope that she will one day respect me for that too. And if she doesn’t, that’s her choice. That’s the beauty of being individuals. We are part of the Church, but not Borg- big difference.

Live long and prosper,
Sarah
