I have a gardening question. I'm converting a sand box into a raised bed garden. The sides are 2x10, and it's approximately 4.5' X 7.5'. We already removed all the sand and loosened the dirt underneath. I have a couple questions -
How full should we fill it? i.e. - Should we leave a couple inches around the top to add new soil in the future, or do we fill it to the top? - OR - How deep does the soil need to be for good growing?
I'd like to do a soil and compost - what mixture do I use - 50:50, 70:30??
I'm hoping to get a good fertile ground like I had at my previous house, but don't know where to start.
