I promised you Sam and Dean this month, and I've been rediscovering some old favorites as well as finding new, awesomely good stories. Here's what I've got for you:
1:
Tender, by K. Hanna Korossy
This is a short, emotional little vignette set in the early part of Season 8. Sam has concussion and he's confused. Dean is doing what he does best, taking care of his Sammy.
2:
Take My Hand and We'll Make It, by
akintay More injured Sam. He's just almost completed the third trial and Dean is taking care of him as he waits for something to happen - anything at all, but preferably for Sam to recover. It's time for both Sam and Dean to heal, and I loved the whole thing.
3:
I Guess We Know the Score, by
purple-carpets A harrowing look at what could happen to the Winchesters if John left them for a little too long. The last four lines of this one are almost too much.
4:
True North, by
cydsa Dean is desperate. Sam has been living his normal life, and Dean's been okay with it, but now Dean needs him to step up and save him. Can he reconnect with his brother in time to make a difference?
5:
Sesqui-wha??, by
sylvia-locust There's a town that only comes out of hiding every 25 years, and Sam and Dean come out of the Batcave to lay it to rest. Dean thinks they might need a backhoe.
6:
A Mobius Strip, by
downjune Supernatural done as Looper. This is a complex and wonderfully well crafted Sam/Dean au.
7:
The Next Big Thing, by
ficwriter1966 Sam's used his downtime to write a novel. Dean isn't at all impressed - mostly because he isn't in it.
8:
Just a Scratch, by
cece-away Sam is in trouble. He doesn't know where he is, and he doesn't know where Dean is either. He's injured, and there's a huge terrifying creature right there with him.
9:
Magical Girl Sam Winchester, by
ikira Anyone who knows me, knows how much crack gladdens my heart, and this really hit my sweet spot. When a small, fluffy white thing that could be a cat, or could be a bunny, or who the hell knows what it could be, suddenly tells Sam that the only way to save Dean is to go into battle wearing a pink, frilly dress and high heels, he is somewhat skeptical. However, he does get used to it...
Now is the Winchester of our Discontent
10:
Bard Day at Black Rock Oh, Puck! The Danish Mistake All by
dizzojay Three of the funniest drabbles I've ever come across. There's nothing else I can say!
11:
The Accompanist I had my post all ready to go, and then I read this, and I had to add it. I cried so many tears over this story, that I look like a cabbage patch doll - most of it on public transit! Sweet, sad, and so very Dean. Maybe Dean sticks with mullet rock for a reason, and maybe this is that reason.
