Ask The Author: lazy_daze
Hi, everybody! I'm lazy_daze, and britomart_is very kindly asked if I'd like to take part in this month's Ask the Author post, and I jumped at the chance!
My face may be familiar around these parts as a mod of this lovely community, but I do write a little, you know, on the side ;)! I've been reading in this fandom since early 2006 (!) but didn't start writing until late 2007. Which has still given me enough time to build up quite a portfolio, shall we say, especially as I try and have at least one fic posted a month - I've stuck to it so far!!
My masterlist of fic is here. My largest two categories are RPS (Jared/Jensen) and Sam/Dean, though I've dabbled in some other pairings in both SPN and RPF, and the occasional SPN gen piece. I don't think I could choose between J2 and Sam/Dean in what I prefer writing! They're very different and both awesome.
One of my strengths and one of my favourite things to write has always been porn. Hell, kinky watersports fics was my very first Sam/Dean fic I posted in this fandom! Unlike some writers, I think, I enjoy writing it, and I think porn can showcase a lot about a relationship and a character by how you write it. However, I also think that porn can be just that - porn that exists solely to be titillating is just as valuable and valid - and fun!
However, of course, I enjoy writing G-R level stuff too and playing with humour/schmoop/character studies/etc. At this point, I've written a fair amount of most genres at some time or another! Some are scary to write (like humour; what if I'm just not at all as funny as I think I am???) but ultimately satisfying (hearing you made people laugh feels AWESOME :D), some are not my thing so I rarely do (extreme angst and darkfic - I don't enjoy them and would suck at writing them!), some I wish I could do more of (FEMMESLASH!)
I have no idea what fics to link here as examples of my work so, a random selection, I guess?

Topspin - Jared/Jensen AU, NC-17; my most popular fic by far and still one of my best works, I think. The Tennis One :D
How Many Floors to Realize - Sam (Wesson)/Dean (Smith) It's A Terrible Life AU, NC-17; this is one of my personal favourite humorous fics I've tried my hand at - Sam Wesson and Dean Smith were SO much fun to play with.
Don't You Dare Say No, Not Until You've Tried It - Jared/JDM, NC-17; this is a shameless pleas for MORE JARED/JDM, PLEASE?
The earth could not play - Tessa/Jess, PG-13; I love femmeslash but I also *love* my OTPs of S/D and J2, i.e. boyslash, so I don't end up writing femmeslash that often. This is a totally random rarepair femmeslash that is very different from a lot of my stuff but I ended up really quite pleased with it.
I See Lightning - Jared/Jensen, NC-17; a departure from my usual preference of dom and/or top!Jared, this is a bottom!Jared breathplay fic I actually really liked from last Blindfold round.
In Time - gen, G; SamnDean gen piece of randomness that I wrote out of nowhere and expected everyone to mostly ignore and it got way more comments that I thought and even some fantastic fanart!
Give Them A Push - French-Mistake!Jared/French-Mistake!Jensen, NC-17; the latest fic I posted, a cracky 'is it FPS? Is it RPS?' bodyswap piece. This got kinda bizarre but I kinda liked it :>
