I have all of this week's recs tagged 'subject: hell' but it's meant in different ways. Some actually take place in hell while others simply discuss it or deal with the repercussions of the boys being there, but it is definitely a huge part of the plot in all five of these stories.
Heathen Song by
hitlikehammersGen - Sam, Dean, Michael, Lucifer; PG-13; 8008 words; spoilers through 6.11
Author's Summary: The thing you have to understand, is that only three souls in all of Creation have ever seen the Cage, and it’s absolutely nothing like Sam Winchester would have guessed. Or: how soulmates survive as half of themselves.
--> I love
hitlikehammers writing style, (not just in this fic, but in a few more, as well) and I'm pretty sure I could read this a hundred times and still be impressed and caught up in all the imagery.
the said it was the fall of man by
jukeboxhoundSam/Dean; R; 7900 words; s6 spoilers
Author's Summary: Sam gets his soul back on a Monday.
--> This is a wonderful and slightly terrifying 'what if' scenario. What if Lucifer's cage is much less literal than everyone assumed? Or maybe I just like fics that have Enochian in them.
Everything Is Better Somewhere Else by
dipenatesGen - Sam, Dean; PG-13; 2100 words; post 4.11
Author's Summary: Dean hadn't said a word since today's revelation.
--> We never really get to see Sam react to Dean's confession about enjoying torturing souls or much of any subsequent discussion about it, really, so this fic is a nice little discussion between them, Sam playing Freud to Dean momentarily without pushing too hard, that seems like the type of discussion they could've had but we didn't see.
if they send the wolves, I'll join the wolves by
paxluxSam/Dean; R; 4094 words; au after season 5
Author's Summary: Like all good fairy tales, there are rules.
--> So I pretty much love everything Pax writes, won't lie. This is so unique, though, I'm pretty sure I made actual verbal sounds like gasps and 'ohhh' while reading it. I mean, everyone says there really isn't anything these boys wouldn't do for each other, and this really proves that.
Sense Memory by
entangled_nowDean/Alastair; R; 787 words; spoilers for 4.16
Author's Summary: This is not hell, and Alistair is not some random soul to be cowed, or disturbed, by a sharp knife and string of graphic threats.
--> Alastair! &hearts &hearts This is an older fic but it. is. so. creepy. And Dean will always be haunted by their shared time in hell, as this shows.
