(ok, who is making anonymous comments? 'cause they're walking the line with them and i thought that we left anonymous lj comment drama behind in middle school. there's a couple people that can say stuff like that to me and it's fine, but i'm generally not ok with blatant sexual comments about minors or people calling me a skanky bitch. got it?)

I met up with a bunch of dykes (in SP Portuguese, "tipo dyki-punki") last night and we chatted over beers until we got kicked out of two bars and then I crashed at the house of this crusty queer girl from Portland. Then the MTV Brazil van picked Gigí and I up in the morning. I could live in this city so easily. As Kerby said, it's paradise: you can drink anywhere, every bar and corner store has an espresso machine, the music scene has everything, I can get a job largely on speaking perfect English (she works as a translator for an Evangelical clown show... I kid you not), it's new but old, the transportation system is fantastic... it's paraíso de verdade.
I'm going to a party and a show tonight. The party is for the airing of a joke music video that some of the girls did as filler for MTV Brazil (Gigí works there and so does Elisa). Go to http://br.esperanto.mtvi.com/player.jhtml and scroll down to "Então Tá". It's supposed to be the perfect boy band: the pretty boy who's probably gay (Kerby, the girl from Portland), the rapper (Elena, who's a drummer for a hardcore band), the ethnic (Gigí, studies production and plays in a psychedelic rock band), and Claudia (who I haven't met yet... I forget her role). Their "band" is Dykes 4ever.

Slang/gíria count (weird pronunciations in parenthesis):
massa: fucked
porra (po-ha): literally means cum, used as "damn"
regina (heh-jina): fucked up (Sao Paulo)
gili (ji-lee): gay but not flaming (Curitiba)
raxa (ha-sha): straight girl
balada: the party that happens on a good night out
