So, anyway. Still here, still pregnant, only for another month or so. Have been quiet due to dealing with the fallout some complications which risked me out of midwife care and into the wonderful world of high risk obstetrics. Sadly, the transition away from consistent care I was confident in to being dropped in the middle of a busy, complicated group practice at a university teaching hospital where I have yet to see anyone other than a resident or nurse, have been prescribed medication contraindicated to other conditions I have, been yelled at for not taking said medication (which I refused to do until someone clarified the benefits vs. risks), and largely ignored until I demanded someone actually explain to me what the hell the risks and issues actually were with my situation has been way more stressful than the complications, and exacerbated the complications (blood pressure) significantly.
Lemme tell you, I totally get why women walk out of hospital-based obstetric care and say, "Fuck this shit, never again."
Thankfully, the offspring has dealt with all this far better than I have, and continues to pass all the various tests with flying colors, and headbutt my bladder and jam his little pointy feet into my lungs with great enthusiasm.
