Reduce, reuse, recycle.

In an unfortunate confluence of media influences, every time I read "their tongues wrestled" or some similar construction, I find myself imagining The Big Show and Triple H in a steel cage match. This is not condusive to ever finishing the fic.

Today was recycle day. Our township holds an "Environment Day" every year, where they take all sorts of household trash for recycling and disposal. We missed last year, so last night I loaded up Jimbo (*loves on the hatchback*) with all the post-move detritus that has been accumulating in the garage and basement for the last two years, and trundled it to the administration building. On my way out there, I saw that someone down the street was moving, and had left some stuff at the curb. Scored myself a battered but sturdy three drawer dresser (plus the comedy value of carrying the damn thing back to the house), which cleaned up nicely after a quick application of steel wool and some elbow grease to scrape off the Pokemon stickers.

I think I've managed to do more towards getting the house in shape and neglected projects finished since April than I have since we moved in. I still have to finish painting, and there's still the enormous and odious task of finishing cleaning up the basement after Paradox's urinary tract issues, but I put up some shelving and have almost everything repacked into plastic tubs, and bagged what can't be salvaged for the trash. Including a passle of childhood keepsakes my mom dumped off on me as soon as we bought the house (literally - she drove a carload down a week after we took possession). Last night I found the remnants of my My Little Pony collection, in their little pink plastic stable carry-case (complete with their little brushes). They now reside on the aforementioned dresser in the spare room, soon to be joined by my Breyer horses and one Barbie pony.

Of course, I ended recycle day on a very me note, while breaking down boxes. I attempted to shove a pile of flattened cardboard out of my way when my foot slipped - right along the ende of the pile. I now have a nice cardboard cut along the side of my big toe. I hope you appreciate this shit, Mother Nature.

On a fannish note, thanks to everyone who signed up for the Sam ficathon. We had a fabulous turn-out, well beyond my expectations. Expect some fantastic Sam fic in August!
