That's what I want

I'm thinking about getting a credit card on my own, finally. My brother already got one a few weeks ago, but I don't want to use his, I want my own. I'm a big girl. hehe Well, I have thought about it for quite some time. I never thought that I would need one, but I guess, nowadays, there's almost nothing you can't do without one. And the main ( Read more... )

It's possible to live without a credit card. ;-) We haven't had one in nearly 5 years and I don't regret it a bit. We do have a DEBIT card from our bank, which looks and often works like a credit card (including allowing us to shop online), except instead of charging something, it withdraws from our bank account.

But yeah, you CAN go without credit cards. ;-)

Yeah, I never had one before. And I have a bank card, as well, but I can't shop in foreign countries with it.

Are there different kinds of bank cards? Just curious because some friends in Canada can use theirs while others can't, so I wonder if it depends on the card, account type or bank?

Well, I have a cash card from the bank, is that like a debit card? I can use it for getting cash at an ATM of course or I could use it for paying when I'm shopping. But not online shopping. It's not like a credit card.

If you decide to meet this guy, do NOT go on your own. He may seem nice online but could be a freaking weirdo.

Also, never use a debit card online. If someone gets your details, they can clear out your bank account. Nearly happened to me last year so I only ever use my credit card online.

Agreed and do it somewhere very visible, very public - like a cafe. Do not go anywhere private with him.

Oh no, that I would never do for a first meeting. Maybe I'll just say that I'm at a cafe with a friend and if he wants to join, he's welcome, or something. And if he refuses, I have my answer, too. ;)

Honestly, I would do that for the first SEVERAL meetings. And if it's possible there, I'd have a background check run on him. Here, if we pay a small fee to the local state government, we can find out someone's criminal background. Isn't it sad it's come to that these days?

I'm tempted to get a credit card too, but... nah, still resisting! lol

Hopefully that guy won't turn out to be a weirdo!
