I'm thinking about getting a credit card on my own, finally. My brother already got one a few weeks ago, but I don't want to use his, I want my own. I'm a big girl. hehe Well, I have thought about it for quite some time. I never thought that I would need one, but I guess, nowadays, there's almost nothing you can't do without one. It's possible to live without a credit card. ;-) We haven't had one in nearly 5 years and I don't regret it a bit. We do have a DEBIT card from our bank, which looks and often works like a credit card (including allowing us to shop online), except instead of charging something, it withdraws from our bank account.

But yeah, you CAN go without credit cards. ;-)

Yeah, I never had one before. And I have a bank card, as well, but I can't shop in foreign countries with it.

Are there different kinds of bank cards? Just curious because some friends in Canada can use theirs while others can't, so I wonder if it depends on the card, account type or bank?

Well, I have a cash card from the bank, is that like a debit card? I can use it for getting cash at an ATM of course or I could use it for paying when I'm shopping. But not online shopping. It's not like a credit card.

Yeah, I think that's a form of debit card. Ours has a Visa logo on it and we can use it for online shopping, shopping locally, ATMs, etc, but it all draws out of our checking account. We've done this for years, are incredibly careful and, so far, no one has ever gotten our info.

I never used my cash card before for shopping, because I can't really memorize the PIN. LOL So I only use it to get account statements.
I always pay cash. I'm used to that. ;)
