Puzzle Pieces

Things are roughly starting to take shape. I've started working as a core sub, which isn't really any different from the job I had before, except that I'll only be working in special ed classes and no child development centers. I was annoyed yesterday to not get an assignment when I was supposed to (I'm guaranteed 6 hours a day). I was told to call the sub line at 6 AM if I didn't receive a call the night before, so I did that, and left a message like it told me to, and waited for them to call back. No call came, and I slept until 9:30 and woke up to realize that I probably wasn't going to work that day. I found out that I must've just gotten forgotten about (like they somehow lost my message in the shuffle) and it would have been a good idea to call back and leave another message maybe an hour later or something. Oh, well.

Then at the assignment I had today, the teacher I worked with said that the sub office had made a mistake and that there would be another sub filling in for the rest of the week and through into next week. My assignment was a multiple-day job, extending through next Wednesday. I understand if the teacher wanted to request a specific sub, but it felt a bit bad that she was kicking me out of the assignment to choose someone else over me. And I am a core sub, meaning I have priority over the regular subs for assignments; who knows if the person she's choosing is a core sub. Whatever, I just hope I don't have to go through the same crap again tomorrow morning.

After work today I went over to a middle school nearby and talked to them about volunteering for their after-school program, and they were thrilled to have me. I will be working there every day after work for about three hours, and this will hopefully suffice for the experience I need to get to put on my application to the credential program. I just hope it's not too little too late, because the application is due on the 31st of this month, and I'm not sure how I'll manage to get 45 hours in with just 3 hours per day for the rest of the month. It'll be rough, but maybe I could get the lady who runs the after school program to give me an extra project or something to work extra on, or she could just fudge the hours a bit for me on my form. :P I just am really happy to have found somewhere that will want me working there a few hours each day, at a middle school (which is ideal) and where I know I will be able to show up every day after work.

I'm now trying to plan for where I'm going to move to once I have the means to afford a room somewhere. I'd love to move to San Francisco and there's a place I'm really interested in that's listed on Craigslist; it's totally within my budget, and the neighborhood is really nice and it has a nice view and everything. I just don't know if it's the best idea to move to the city when I want to go to college in Hayward for my credential. A commute wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. At this point, however, if I were to move to Hayward, I'd be commuting to work in San Francisco. So either way, I'm not sure which is the best choice. I'm going to check out the place in San Francisco tomorrow, and hopefully that will help me make my decision.

The class I was going to teach of beginning swing dancing didn't end up getting enough people registered for it for us to continue with it, unfortunately. However, I did get invited to be in a performance that's going to happen at the end of April at the 9:20 Special Open House, and it's exciting cos I'm performing with some of the best dancers in San Francisco. I look forward to being part of a performance again. :)

Anyway, I need to get going so I can take Rudy to his ballroom dance practice. So that's all for now!
