*whispers* w00t!
I got the job!!! I got a phone call this morning from the lady who interviewed me, and they are going to start me on the new job on Monday! :D I'll be working 6 hours a day (so 30 hours a week), getting $18.33 per hour, and I'll be getting medical benefits! So excited. I'm just a little bit confused because I was told this job would work the same as the job I've had, so I can get jobs through the same website, phone line, etc., but when I look at the website it still has me classified as a child development para as well as a special ed para, and it doesn't say anywhere that I'm a "Special Education Core Substitute Paraprofessional" or anything similar. I guess maybe it takes time and I'll check it again tomorrow, but I hope it doesn't still say that on Monday or I'll be a bit confused. Anyway, this basically means I'll have priority over other subs, and I will be guaranteed 6 hours a day, so it's great. :D I'm excited to actually have something a bit dependable, and this is even a job I could possibly live off of (like, not be homeless anymore!)
So that's my wonderful news, however the sad news is that I'm sick. I was supposed to work the last day of this three-day assignment today in the Presidio (yes, this Presidio - it's gorgeous there!) but when I woke up at 6:30 this morning, I was coughing up green mucous (sorry for the TMI) and my voice was completely gone. I figured green mucous is not something that normally goes with just allergies, so I must actually be sick with a cold or something like that, in which case I don't want to go get the children or the other adults at the site sick, but also it's a bit difficult to work with preschoolers if you have no voice. I am very glad I made the decision not to go in to work today, because since then I've had a few coughing fits, and it would have just been frustrating and embarrassing to try to work there with the issues I have right now. I really hope this all clears up and my voice is back by Monday, since that's the first day I'm supposed to work as a core sub, but I guess I'll just wait and see what happens... not much else I can do.
I'm going to try to do my taxes this weekend, and I have not much else planned really. I hope to be well enough to go dancing tomorrow night, but again, we'll see...
