GIRL FRIENDS #20
"The hobbies' sacred place - Akihabara"
Maruyama and Kato went to Akihabara! They went back to their youth playing with capsule figures and they talked excitedly about a ceirtain anime! There are many spoilers so you should watch it before reading this...
When they were producing their own snow domes in October issue, Kato said he would like to create his own figures and go to Kaiyodo. That's why this time we sent the guys to Akihabara to admire the best action figures shops of the country. There they find a lot of capsule figures machines...
M: Gashapon are like dreams! (Imitating his co-star in the drama "Boys on the run".)
S: Nostalgic! (laughs) It's really exciting! Which one do you want to try?
M: This one! (He uses the "Kinnikuman" machine.) Wonder what I'll get ♪ That's awesome! Today's capsules are so easy to open, you don't even have to twist them! (He opens the capsule.) Ah! It's Kinnikuman himself! I won the best at the first try!! He also wears a champion belt! Yay!!
S: There are other characters besides Kinnikuman? Oh, you won with a 1 in 5 probability. Great! (He spots a "Ikakore!" series.) Damn! Squids! I want one!
M: Giant squids are very popular lately.
S: (Opening the capsule) Aori squid, yay!! Shaaaa!! I will catch an Aori squid this year! I want this one too! Okamoto Taro's art collection! (He won a) "Kodomo no Ki". Ah, that's the art piece in front of the Aoyama Gekijo!
M: That's right! It's a really important one! There's also the "Kodomo no Shiro". I like these ghosts. I wish I got a demon!
S: That's clear (laughs.) I want this skull!
M: I usually never get the ones I want but today I'm lucky. (Opening his capsule) Ooooh! Amazing!
S: Don't tell me you found your demon?!
M: I did! That's terrific! From now on I should expect something bad to happen.
S: I got a random one (laughs.) It's a kind of Hitosume Kozo (young Buddhist priest), it's cute anyway.
M: He even has a little umbrella full of holes.
S: It's really detailed!
M: Can I try this Stag Beetle series for last? (Suddenly all politely.)
S: Please, go ahead. There's one in its pupal stage too! Please, win! Which one do you want? The big one?
M: That or the Nokogiri one. I love beetles, I'll be happy with whatever I get!
S: I like the Miyamaku one ♥
M: (He opens the capsule and grins boldly)....
S: Seriously?! You got the pupa?!
M: No, I got the most halfway (laughs.) The Koruriku!
Now that they're satisfied the conversation shifts to that anime that Kato asked Maruyama to watch...
[Madoka Magica Spoiler Alert]
M: Shige-chan! I watched "Madoka Magica"! Some time ago I went to the radio for "Rekomen!" and Shige-chan was recording in the same booth before me, he left me a note saying "Have you watched MadoMagi?" I thought we could talk about it here, that's why I didn't reply.
S: But after that you sent me a MadoMagi stamp on Line (laughs.)
M: It was that time I invited you for dinner but you were in Nagoya for the tour.
S: I've never bought stamps because I don't use them, I really like those ones though! Do you have a crush on that character?
M: I have!
S: By the way, since I've said that I like this anime during the concerts I saw uchiwas saying "Sign a contract with me" (=The anime catch phrase to become a witch) (laughs.) There were a lot of quotes of MadoMagi and Jojo.
M: Uwah! Maniac!
S: I can do the Jojo Stand but I'm not sure how I should react to the contract offer!
M: The only thing you can do is to look worried and thoughtful like the girls who get offered the contract by Kyubei.
S: Ahahahah! Anyway, how was it? It surprised you?
M: Yes! It was very unexpected. It's true what you said, once you reach the 3rd episode you cannot stop watching it, I stayed up all night. Before watching it I saw its cute, pop style and I was a little worried. Like "I'm 30 years old what the hell am I doing?" But after it gets all so sly!
S: It didn't attract me at first too, it was a good thing that episodes are only 30 minutes long.
M: You know how midway the girl with blue hair begins changing more and more? That's when I realized that witches can be scary too.
S: The blue haired girl was a minor character and she has quite a sad story, but she was the first stamp you sent me so I figured you liked that character.
M: I was very excited back then (laughs). I cried when her old friend got injured and couldn't play the violin anymore, he tells her "There are no miracles or magic, I will never move my hand anymore!" and she replies "Magic and miracles do exist". There you start understanding what is going to happen.
S: Damn, I could cry just remembering that moment! I love the scene where the blue haired girl ask advice to Madoka's mom. The mom says something like "It's ok to make mistakes".
M: She says "When you get older it gets harder to make mistakes, that's why it's so good when somebody else make mistakes for you". After that Madoka makes a huge mistake, she throws away her Soul Gem and the blue haired girl...Poor girl, really. I also like the one with red hair. She becomes a witch to help her family.
S: At first she's hideous but she's not mean at all. She has her reasons.
M: Yes! There's some innocence in her actions. The ending song of the episode in which she dies was different from the usual. I loved every character. I think everybody should watch this anime, kids and adults.
S: There are many scary parts but it's a study of human life. The ending is perfect, I wonder what happens in the movie...
M: I can't wait to watch it!
S: When it'll be released we'll discuss it!
