As mentioned in the main interview, Shige spent the beginning of the year shut at home, writing his latest novel. Concerned about every single phrase and word he absolutely needed his synonyms and antonyms dictionary and such. In the middle of this Shige had an interesting conversation with a kouhai in the dressing room of the Johnny's Countdown. Actually it was more of a nice haziness that not even his dictionaries could solve...

From now on I'm going to talk about something insignificant and trivial...Nice and hazy stuff. It all began during the rehearsals for the Countdown. I've been suddenly approached by a Kouhai: "I went to your same school and I had the same teacher too! That's why I feel some kind of affinity to Kato-kun!" ...uh? "Affinity"? Maybe because I was just writing a novel I ended up having an uncomfortable feeling about that word. Who knows if he really felt "affinity" with me...A lot of famous people came out from my school. But I've never felt "affinity" to any of my senpai...I felt like there was some other word that could describe that feeling better...what is this haziness? No, I don't want to sound superior, I don't mean to accuse him or anything, I'm very happy about his feelings but...there must be a better word... The fact that a kouhai approached me was very nice though...what are these feelings?! I don't know the name of that boy but I couldn't take that word out of my mind, I'm such a small-minded person... Without noticing the new year has begun. After the celebrations I still couldn't find that other word to replace "affinity" so I decided to give up and go fishing. It was very cold but being on the open sea feels always great! The best! Once there the captain pointed and said "Look, there's another boat. It looks like there's a Fishing Doll on board!" ...What?! A Fishing Doll? ...I couldn't see clearly but trying hard I saw a young girl holding up a big fish.
..."What? I don't know a thing about the fishing showbusiness but I cannot lose! I'm an idol too!" Kato-san got fired up. ...But then I noticed. I'm an idol too...but I don't want to care so much. I don't want to feel hazy and gloomy again. Pulling the fishing rod with all my heart and I caught a 85cm seabass! Maybe somebody doesn't know it but in the special DVD of the album "NEWS" I caught a 60cm one! It was one of my aim but I was never able to catch one bigger than 50cm...This must be a new year's present from the gods! Moreover the name of seabasses change depending on the size like it was a promotion. This year I will stop caring about the details and I'll get promoted too!!!!
...I wonder what a "promotion" would mean to me though...
