day three

Jun 16, 2009 11:16

well it's day three and Rhea seems to be settling in more and more.  she still cries a lot when crated, so i've moved her crate into the front room beside my dogs' crate. hopefully, when i leave for work, they're quiet presence at my leaving will be a good influence upon her.

Loki seems to have really warmed up to her. he's initiated play with her many times today; i was soooo proud of him.  he still got a bit snarky whenever Babygirl got into it. if Rhea tried to nip and play with Babygirl (or me), he'd growl at her.  but, progress is progress. little by little i'm getting Rhea used to her new home and family, and Loki used to the new canine addition.

as for Babygirl.... oh my poor poor baby. she's done a LOT of pouting these past few days.  especially today.  Rhea hurts her feelings by playing with Loki, then when Babygirl tries to join in, shortly after, Rhea will get overwhelmed at retreat to her room.  Babygirl belly crawls up to her, licks her nose, whines, rolls over.. but usually ends up rolling over ONTO Rhea or when Rhea puppy paw slaps her to play, Babygirl reciprocates in kind and Rhea is knocked over.  my poor girl just can't figure out why she'll play with Loki (who is her size and weight) but not her.  I keep telling her, give Rhea a few weeks, then she'll have learned how to play with Loki, and will be big enough to play with you.  until then, i have to deal with a pouty pitiful pit bull.

p.s.  oh! my master plan seems to be working.... coupled with a good long round of play with Loki. :-D
