jentfic_remix  asked for their prefenences today.  I love it when they do that because it means that I spend the whole day wading through people's fic lists trying to find things that are fun to look at in a new POV.  It's fun.  I've submitted my preferences and I'm getting excited.  Also been spending the day mentally planning out the plot for myje_whiteday  fic.  :D  So much to look forward to~

I watched Yamapi's new solo.  I like the song but I find the film clip kind of weird.  It's like Pi was trying to mix his own club style with Shige's Cacao-era jazz style.  I in no way disapprove of this but it just made the PV look awkward like Pi wasn't really sure what was going on.  Mmmm... not sure I'll bother watching it again.  But I like the song.

I spent the week before last watching SHINee's Hello Baby and am now convinced that there must be a News version.  Can you imagine News having to look after a toddler every day for three months?  The possibility for adorable is off the scale.  I intend to write to Kitagawa himself about that show.  (or not depending on how embarrasing my kanji handwriting turns out to be :/ )

And in completely unrelated news:
The post flood situation seems to be looking pretty good.  There were inital worries about our clean water supply but they seem to be much less of a problem than originally expected.  The supermarkets are still stocked and the army is dropping food to all the cut off towns (proud of having a army helicoptor pilot for a cousin).  The affected areas in my city are now covered in about a foot of stinky bacteria infested sludge but the 'mud army' (aka volunteers) are working their butts off to get it cleared out.  My mum spent Friday and Saturday cleaning out a friend's place and then today she and my step-dad joined the official volunteers and started cleaning out a random neighbourhood.  I feel a bit useless here at home but someone needs to look after my step-brother while they're out and about.  Mum's loving my gumboots though.  And I'm donating money to help out.  I can pretty much guarntee that anyone that doesn't volunteer will at least donate what they can.

Mum was telling me that she met a man while they were cleaning up today.  He wasn't one of the volunteers, just a tourist from America who couldn't help but stop and stare at everyone helping with the clean up.  Apparently he lived through Hurricane Katrina and was just amazed at how everyone was reacting to what happened here.  I remember seeeing pictures of what Katrina did both right after and about a year later and being really upset at how badly everything was damaged but I didn't really think about it at the time.  A lot of the damage done by Katrina wasn't fixed because people couldn't afford to fix it, but here no one's asking for money, they're just signing up and helping out as much as they can.  Even the insurance companies:  Flood damage is covered as a basic but not floods from rising river water (which is what has done most of the damage here) but at least one insurance company has stood up and said that they're going to cover it in this case as a gesture of good will  and I'm certain other insurance companies will follow in there footsteps wherever they can afford it.  As a whole we're doing okay and within the month things will be mostly cleaned up and on their way to getting fixed.  Replacing all the water damage in the houses will take a lot longer than that, but we'll get it sorted as effecintly as we can.

Right now, I'm really damned proud to be an Australian.  I like the way we deal with shitty situations.

Now they just have to organise some way of getting livestock off roofs out in the rural areas.  It reminds me of that children's story about the hippo that lived on the roof and only ate cake only in this case it's a cow on the roof:
