savantnicholas “It’s time for your lesson,” Iroh greeted his niece as he entered the room.
“Please, uncle - not tea again,” grumbled the princess.
“It is important that you know what to do for tea ceremonies,” Iroh explained.
“I know,” Azula said and rolled her eyes.
She knew it was tradition, and everyone needs to learn about them. Mai and Ty Lee had already finished their studies on it. In fact they all started at the same time but her problem was that her uncle was thorough - he knew the most useless and pointless details and shared them all.
“Today we are going to learn the importance of pouring tea,” Iroh explained. “Traditionally, the children perform this task for their parents.”
Azula sighed again - she was sure it was going to be a boring lecture. The mission she gave herself was to not fall asleep. If she failed in her mission, the lesson was doomed to repeat itself. She hoped she would have the strength to overcome the obstacles in her path.
“The most important part is the meaning,” Iroh emphasized. “The server shows submission and respect to their parent.”
“What was the meaning again?” Azula asked. Iroh had caught her off guard, she had missed it.
“Submission and respect,” Iroh repeated.
Submission, Azula thought. It made her grin. All she could think of was how she could use it to force Zuko to show the world that she was superior to him. That would be a delight, even though she hated tea.
“Uncle, don’t you think it be important for Zuko to hear this?” asked Azula.
“Azula,” Iroh replied. “Your brother already learned about the art of tea ceremonies.”
“Excellent,” Azula replied happily.
Iroh was overjoyed to see his niece finally showing an interest in tea.
