Rematch - Bumi, Toph
Title:Rematch

Summary: Toph realize that she and Bumi have a lot more in common then just earth bending.

“It’s time for a rematch,” Toph blurted out. She was bored, and it was the first time she had seen Bumi since the war ended.
She maneuvered her arms towards the ground and directed the attack at the old man. She hoped it would get him off his lazy butt. Bumi quickly dodged the spike as it tore out of the ground from where he had been resting.
He made a gesture to indicate to Toph to bring it on.
“What are you doing?” Toph laughed. “Is that supposed to mean something to me? It felts more like you’re doing a fancy-pants dance move than earth bending.”
Bumi ignored the girl’s taunt, much to her disappointment. She had wanted to gain an advantage over him, since they were almost equal in bending skill.
The earth shook wildly for half hour. It felt like a thousand badgermoles were on a rampage.
Out of the blue Bumi innocently snorted, “So how are your parents?”
Toph’s stance weakened - she had been prepared to endure everything except that.
“So your fight dirty now?” she furiously accused the King.
“Am only following your lead,” replied Bumi. “My parents were difficult too.”
“Sure,” Toph said as she rolled her eyes. It was hard to believe Bumi ever even had parents. He always seemed to be the complete opposite of her.
“They didn’t like how I think,” Bumi sighed as their fight continued.
“I can’t imagine why,” Toph joked.
“They blamed each other,” Bumi reflected, frowning.
“Always fighting about it after I went to bed. It was hard to sleep with all the bickering. My father blamed my mother because she allowed me to run around wildly with poor hygiene. My mother blamed my father’s lack of involvement in my life.”
Toph was baffled. She wanted to ask him more about it, but it seemed it would be best if she just remained silent.
“Eventually it all worked out,” Bumi smiled, hoping to satisfy the girl’s curiosity. “Let’s call it a day!”
“You getting tired already, old man?”
“No,” Bumi replied. “I’m just hungry.”
Toph heard her stomach growl. She should have waited to pick a fight until after breakfast.
