I am brilliant

I called the Social Security office today to ask why they couldn't confirm my citizenship, since the oh so smart FAFSA people said it was Homeland Security that wouldn't confirm, and wouldn't tell me why. The very nice gentleman I reached after a 10 minute hold told me the reason is that apparently, when you get your citizenship, you're supposed to bring your documents to the social security office in person, so they can update your file. (He then proceeded to make Boston accent jokes. Too many of them. But hey, at least he was helpful. And it's a good time to make fun of Boston anyhow.) It comes as no suprise at all, that I don't recall this being mentioned ONCE, EVER. I'm sure my parents can confirm.
So, since I never did bring my documents, it looks like the social security office still thinks i'm an alien! How sweet that is.
I'll be taking care of this as soon as I can get my certificate of naturalization from my father, and as soon as I can find some business hours to kill to do this since those offices are only open from 9-4. Phew.
I'm just so glad I didn't call the Dept. of Homeland Security instead. Ha ha.

This is all just more material for me to ponder during my hours of reading for my course tonight...

Oh and since the boys worked their asses off in the shitty shitty weather delivering flowers, I cooked up Chicken Normande with Mashed Apples & Potatoes

Oh MY GOD.
3 hours of cooking was worth it, because it was one of the most scrumptious meals I've ever made. And mashing apples and potatoes? Fucking brilliant! I do wish it hadn't taken that long, but it would have helped if the pilot light in my oven didn't go out, putting me in a temporary panic that my stove was dead....
Maybe eventually I'll get around to asking my landlord for a new oven, but I am super skittish about it for some reason, and I'm only going to be living there for like 6 more months anyhow... Just don't know if it's worth the effort. I do so hate my oven though....but I guess I can deal.
