so........... about last saturday
BEST FREAKING SHOW EVER!!!!! (as of yet, august 20th hasn't come)
after getting out of work early, i went to go pick up joe and traffic was awful (damn tourists always clog up route 1, not cool at all) so pat and chris met us at the tower. finally breaking free from the annoying tourist congestion, we began cruising along on route 4 albeit behind schedule. spirits remained high tho as we blasted RBF's "we're not happy til you're not happy" at an unforgivingly loud volume. thanks to my incredible driving abilities, or maybe it was just luck (probably luck) we made it up there before the show started, parking a couple blocks away at some parking garage across from PPAC. we then proceeded to run towards the doors as they had just opened, but not before dowing a couple rockstars (can't see show without having energy drinks, that's just not right) little did we have time to browse around the merch tables and purchase multiple streetlight manifesto shirts (i got a green one, cool) before whole wheat bread began playing. they were sort of a durrrtyy south black version of blink 182 or older green day. with that in mind, i guess it probably goes without saying that they kicked serious ass especially when they got the whole crowd shouting out "WHOLE WHEAT BREAD IN THE MOTHERFUCKIN' HOUSE!" over and over again. also their bassist happened to be the guitarist for none other than EL PUS! twas coolness. next this band transition came on. they, uh.... were not very..... um....... good. or talented for that matter. their bassist looked like a girl, or maybe their bassist was a girl. i dunno. either way, it was a bad sign when to try to get the crowd pumped they played a wimpy cover of that song "story of a girl", and eventually everyone cheered when they said they had one song left. the band probably cried a river and drowned the whole world after they were done. next, i witnessed a god in action. TOMAS KALNOKY IS MY FUCKING HERO! (sorry had to get that out of me) streetlight came on to a gigantic applause, and proceeded to rock really hard. being the first show of the tour, those in attendence (including myself, pat, joe, chris, brian, nick larghi, and even TY! funny story about ty later on in this entry) got to hear brand new never before played music by the one the only streetlight manifesto and it was glorious. they also played their now probably famous combination of point/counterpoint and keasbey nights which was incredible fun. the whole entire crowd was going nuts, everyone was so into it. they played more funness including everything went numb and ended on here's to life. maybe next time i see them i'll get to hear more newness and the big sleep. fingers crossed. we called for an encore with our now traditional "TEN MORE SONGS!" chant, but to no avail. next, the kings of rock and roll themselves came on. im talking about none other than REEL BIG FISH! and i'll be damned if it wasn't as great or greater than the first time i saw them. they opened with take on me and the fun just kept rolling from there. they played a never before released song called so much for rock and roll, and even did the rare cover of the cure's boys dont cry. one of the funniest parts was listening to them play what must have been 8 or 9 different versions of S.R. something they didnt do at the last show we saw with them. they had a hardcore punk version, an easy listening version, a dance-funk version, an old school hip hop version, a country ho-down version, and a death metal version to name a few. each one was introduced with the same line "this is a song off of our live album, it's called S.R.") sadly, after playing beer and sell out, they weren't allowed an encore. mxpx was the closing act, and we stayed for awhile and they played responsibility and i think teenage politics and a few others i recognized, but we left early to go get pizza at pizza queen. before getting pizza we got these free cds from this band lemon lime tennis shoes. strangely enough, joe and i both saw them perform at a scout camporee thing at washington county fairgrounds something like five or six years ago. small world. pizza at pizza queen was good enough. i gotta say though, it was kind of weird that they sold condoms, cigarettes and bluntwraps there too. oh well, good pizza is good pizza and good pizza after a show is all that really matters. the only thing wrong with the show other than transition existing and mxpx closing is that sarah couldn't be there to witness the joy and spectacularness with me. but we might go on the 11th in boston and she'll be back for that one, YAY! either way we shall have more awesome show experiences yet to come to witness together. once back at the parking garage we made chris call megan, she didnt pick up. we thought things weren't going to work out with them, but she called him back not once, but TWICE that night (and once today) so i guess something could happen between them, hooray! after getting home i completely crashed, exhausted from all the fun.
i miss sarah, too bad alaska has to be so far away :-/
ONCE AGAIN...... TO BE CONTINUOUSLY CONTINUED!!
