I've been dangerous lately... trying to be slightly more active on twitter, at least check in and post sometimes, (er, tweet) and it's lead me to realize that I am following waaaay too many people on there. Gotta rant about Twitter again. I really have a love-hate relationship with it, and direct messages (DMs) contribute to that in every sense. For you outsiders, the gist is that we all update our twitter status thingies all the time but if you only want to talk to one person, you send her a direct message. I've ranted before about facebook, because it's sort of a depository of uninteresting people, right? I still think that. On lj here, you have to have something to say otherwise no one wants to be your friend. On twitter, you have to have cool connections and nifty links. Hate to break it to a few of you, but I've noticed a growing resistance to the idea of shipping twitter status updates to the outside world. ESPECIALLY here on livejournal, where a close-knit group of geeks still bare the torch for blogging as its creators intended blogging to be. I have decided that all RSS feeds shall flow towards my twitter, not away from it.
