Well, my boss has continued the tradition started by two previous bosses of giving the members of my department four hours free time to do our shopping or whatever we wish to use it for. I'm taking mine this afternoon because it appears we won't be getting the bad weather predicted. I had thought of taking it yesterday, but we were supposed to get all this ice. Thankfully that didn't happen. And this morning it was almost balmy when I left the house.
I hate Christmas shopping. I hate crowds. Hate. Them. I spend the entire time I'm shopping gritting my teeth and muttering under my breath like a crazy person off their meds. At least I have an idea what I'm going to get, so that's good. Another good thing, I actually had a Christmas Club this year, so there's money put aside for the annual bacchanal. Go me.
As much as I hate Christmas shopping and gathering around the tree singing Fah who for-aze, Dah who dor-aze every year, I look forward to the vacation I take between Christmas and New Year's. I don't do anything, but that's the point of the vacation. I don't have to get up and trudge out to work in the snow/rain/cold. I can sleep in, play on my computer, play video/computer games (I think I'm going to buy myself the Sims game for my computer), watch DVDs and have as little one-on-one interaction with other humans as possible. Yes, I'm a bit of a misanthrope.
So looking forward to December 26th.
