Jesse and I, after looking at a few houses and doing some math, have pretty much decided to stay put. The houses we could afford (or at least the ones we are willing to pay for) aren't nearly as nice as our current house is. Anything comparable would appear to cost us another $300-400 a month. Our plan is now to convert the duplex into 2 condos and sell the other one. Then we'll refinance, get some money back to hopefully pay off our 2nd mortgage. Then finish the basement, which I'm really excited about. Put in a half bath, playroom/office, rec room, and maybe a wet bar.
Now I'm in complete home improvement mode. Too bad our unit is currently adequately staffed- I haven't been able to pick up any overtime lately, which makes rapidly paying off debt and saving much more difficult. Grrr
