flipping someone off can totally be good for the soul

I am knackered, and feel completely pathetic that going back to work after a break has knocked me for six. Particularly since my boss forgot to renew my computer login at work, meaning I couldn't even do very much and got sent home early. /me\ But: I spent my newly freed hours watching The Good Wife, which...

...I am becoming more and more convinced will be a new fandom. O_O It is really, really good! I love Alicia, and I love Kalinda even though she says "very unique" (which is proof of just how great she is otherwise), and I love that Christine Baranski is in it more just than "oh look it's Christine Baranski!" and I am really finding myself getting into it. Juliana Marguiles and Archie Panjabi are both hot and awesome, amirite?

I also like the kids, although I have yelled at them quite a lot to just tell their mother everything already. (Is this a sign of Getting Old?) It turns out it is a show that does generally make me yell-y, though - my god I hate Glenn Childs a lot right now! And I find myself getting irrationally irritated at anyone who makes life even slightly difficult or annoying for Alicia, in a "GIVE THE WOMAN A BREAK SHE IS AWESOME SHUT UP AND SHOW SOME RESPECT" way.

(Oh and also the gran. I think we are supposed to see the gran as being generally nice? But I am SO on the kids' side. She THREW OUT A SEX ED LEAFLET BELONGING TO SOMEONE ELSE. YOU DON'T DO THAT. EVER. IF THE KID WANTS TO READ IT, LET HIM, JFC. HE'S FOURTEEN, NOT FOUR, AND NOT YOUR CHILD. AND DON'T CHUCK OUT OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS OBVIOUSLY IMPORTANT. MY GOD. YOU MIGHT BE OLD AND JUST HAD A STROKE BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER.)

And I love that Alicia demands that respect, most of the time, where she can. The bit when she's on the stand at Peter's bail hearing and the dude is like, are you going to be sleeping with him Mrs Ferrick? and she's like "Actually the issue is whether he has a suitable home to go to. And I'm telling you under oath that he does, and also you are an intrusive dickweed and need to go away now while I sit here being more awesome than you" is one of my favourites. I love that Kalinda is also smart and awesome and capable but she's also younger, in that way: she's good but she's not got the hard-won knowledge of just how much she can get through, in the way Alicia has, I think.

Oh and I like that they let Alicia get upset but without saying she's rubbish or weak or anything for that. I like that the whole plot about Peter being framed doesn't actually make him being a cheating bastard any better, from that point of view. I like that he's a cheating bastard but we get to know why Alicia loved him - and still does, sort of, in that way where it's really complicated and he's the father of her kids and there is no way of adequately describing just what that means.

I am concerned that Josh Charles' character whose name I can't remember amid all the Joshs and Dannys and Wills - oh wait, he's Will, isn't he? cause there's The Other Will? - really is going to turn out to be major sleazebag, not just the a-goodish-guy-mostly level sleazebag he's been shown as so far. And probably sleep with Alicia. Or try to. Or, like, convince himself he's in love with her or something.

I am worried for Glenn Childs' ex-wife because I think he's the kind of nutter who might go and get her killed. Except that he didn't at the point where I thought it most likely, so maybe he won't. But I want to slap him in the face anyway. (HE GRABBED ALICIA'S ARM. And I loved that she called security on him because he's A DOUCHEBAG. er.)

...I did tell you I was getting invested?

Basically omg, it is probably the smartest and most grownup show on TV right now, especially while waiting for the new season of Mad Men, and it is REALLY GOOD. And this from a show where I heard the name and went "oh, blech". (I still think it's a bad title, but it does make sense in context.)

I also chucked out two biggish bags worth of crap, today. This is, if I can manage it, the Year Of Chucking Shit Out And Getting Shit Sorted. *determined face* But now, sleep.
