Favourite ship! Oh Katie, pictorial puns are the best!
I hearted that episode of SPN. I love the scariness! And I love a good horror romp. She lived in the walls! So much cooler than haunted house. Also Dean pointing out that they were "defending their territory" and that it wasn't their fault that they had gone psycho was nice, even if the women do always turn out to be evil.
She did live in the walls! I guess I was just expecting them to... be stuck in the house, or something? But maybe that would have made it TOO scary, because it was totally freaky. And yeah, Dean totally got points for that, although the writers don't unless they somehow magically lose their faily, faily issues and write some badguys who aren't oppressed women. (Or kids. Like, yeah evil kids are SCARY - but how many have we had now? A lot!)
I got the companion books for Christmas (is a dork) and Kripke said that he had a kid, so suddenly he realised that kids are the most terrifying thing in the world and that is why there are so many evil kids in SPN! Which is, uh, really fucked up, Kripke, well done.
I liked that for a change they were stuck because someone just slashed the tires. It somehow made it scarier for me because ghosts, whilst terrifying, adhere to certain rules that the boys know how to deal with. That this was more of an unknown made me make the face of terror. Also, it then meant that the boys were in no better position to deal with this fuckery than the people whose house it was. Which made for some good drama, as opposed to people either thinking the Winchesters are crazy and ignoring them, or following them blindly and screaming a lot. Also, the hand licking was BRILLIANT!
The tire slashing thing was cool, yeah. (Though... where did they get spare tires from? They aren't registered with the AA or anything! Though that is not as whacked as the evil feral kids being able to write...) The stepping over the salt moment was BRILLIANT, so freaky. And yeah the licking (ewwwwwww FREAKY). And they were definitely trying - I hope it means we're in for more episodes about things that aren't ghosts, and maybe even with, like you said, more interesting interaction with the mundanes and stuff! (I am still pissed off they killed Hendricksen.)
