As I'm sure most of you have already read, our house was broken into today and robbed of our cool a/v equipment. You know, like the brand new, just out of the box yesterday, 50 inch plasma? Anyway. I could list all the stuff we lost, which is covered by our homeowner's insurance, or I can focus on what we still have.
They didn't harm the house other than the front door where they forced their way in.
None of the animals were injured or lost in the process, which is very good. I would have been a mess if something happened to any of them.
They /only/ took the a/v stuff, and not even all of it. They didn't take the laptops, computers, computer monitors, or any of the bazillion hard drives sitting around the house.
So, tomorrow the insurance adjuster calls to start the whole process, and I screwed the doorframe back together so we could at least lock the door a little. But, if someone wants to get in again, they have proven that they will just do it. Not that I think we're going to get hit again or anything.
The police were here and everything. We know it happened between 12-2, we know it was at least 2 people. We know that they had to at least case the place first, knowing we parked the van in the driveway and not garage, and they knew no one was home. They carried things out through the garage, as they left the garage door open, and dropped the camera's flash on the garage floor.
When I walked into the house and saw the state of my bedroom right off, I just started crying, which is sort of pathetic, since I consider myself a pretty solid person, emotionally. PMS could have something to do with it, I suppose. In any case, I am just rambling now.
Everything else is fine. I went to Buffalo and caught the plague that had me sick for three weeks. Thanksgiving went off without a hitch, even though I was sick. Those are pretty much the major things in the past month.
Be well, my friends!
