Doctor, doctor, give me the news...

Yesterday I did something I have not done in a number of years. And by number, I mean over ten.

I went to the doctor. Not urgent care, or the emergency room, but just the doctor. My chosen PCP. Just to get everything checked up on.

An hour after my appointment, I had referrals to both ob/gyn and to go get the blood drawn for all the testing. And my foot was xrayed. My follow-up appointment is on Feb 26th. Here's hoping that everything comes back clean! But if not, I really feel equipped to handle it now.

I'm going to be 35 this year. And my family has a heavy history of cancer. It's time for me to step up and make sure I don't ignore things to the point of being too late. (Not that I think there is anything wrong, I promise).

It struck me when I was talking to my new doctor (Who I was very content with, considering I was scheduled with him just by chance) about the family history, and he said he would wait for colonoscopy until I was 40 (Family history, see). And I said I wouldn't complain about putting /that/ off until I was 40. And then I realized... that's only five years away. Shocking! But also pretty cool, in its own way.

So, here's to 2008. The year of fiscal and health responsibility. I will get Matt and I out of a lot of debt this year. And make sure we're going to live to enjoy being debt free.
