Set in Boston in the 1980s. Ennis is a Kansas farm boy who leaves home to attend college in Boston and then remains in that city after graduating. He has friendships and relationships with several characters who eventually lead him to Jack Twist. One of them is a Sri Lankan Tamil whom he meets while visiting political refugees in an INS detention center. Many of these characters are variations of Jack Twist and some of them seem like variations but are actually real life people. The structure of the story is unusual.

Easter Chocolate
An AU/AU set in Paris in the spring of 2007. Ennis is French, 23, and works for Joseph Aguirre's landscaping company. Jack is an American the same age who has moved to France to make a fresh start and has been hired as temporary help by Aguirre.

Jack travels back and forth in time throughout the course of his life and encounters Ennis and himself - visits that change everything and almost nothing.
The first few chapters when Jack is a child will seem confusing because he is meeting and seeing people from way in his future. By the time he gets to Brokeback it will be easier to follow, and at the end (before the alternate ending) you might want to reread some of the first chapters, as certain elements in them will have new meaning.
