Rise had been taking a nap. No dreams had come to her, but it was a surprisingly great and deep slumber despite everything that had happened lately. The rooms they were given were very homely, and the beds so soft. In a weird way she sort of liked this new found independence, regardless of the cost. After two years of having even the slightest tilt of her mouth decided for her, it was nice to have no one to make her decisions but herself.

Her luxurious sleep didn't last long, unfortunately; soon the sound of sirens pierced the air and the pure verbosity of the sound seemed to rattle her bones and she jerk her upright, heart nearly pounding out of her chest. What the hell was going on?

Soon the familiar voice of Death Scythe came over the speakers and Rise's breath caught as she listened intently. She wasted no time when it was over. Twenty minutes, she calculated. An awfully short amount of time, especially considering how far away the shelter was, and that some of the newer people might not remember the way. When she exited her ( ... )

And Matt had been out. He'd spent a good deal of the previous night out with his brothers and probably had a few too many drinks at the local bar. Okay, so maybe 'few' was a bit of an understatement. Really, though, he and the others probably really needed to unwind after everything that happened the last few days.

So when he finally hit his pillow that night, he was out and that was that. Not even the sirens had stirred him.

Until of course someone came barging through his door.

"AHH!" He shouted, leaping up and then quickly regretting it. He curled a bit in himself and grabbed his head. "OW, OW, TOO LOUD!!"

Rise jumped up and screamed as well when Matt did. She hadn't even noticed the huddled figure so she instinctively grabbed the nearest object--a chair and raised it above her head, ready to heave it over at the bespectacled boy. Thankfully she realized that he was in fact not an enemy and she kept herself from doubling the pain of his hangover.

"Matt!" she dropped the chair and hurried over to him. What the hell was he doing not even up? Had he been frozen by fear or something?

"Matt!" she repeated, "what are you doing! You heard Death Scythe's announcement! We have to get over to the shelter before it closes! We probably only have like ten minutes or something!" She stopped for a moment, only now realizing the truth of her words. Ten minutes. A tight knot formed in her stomach and she tried to reign in the fear bubbling inside her.

"Come on! Let's go!"

Of course all the yelling was doing a fine job of doubling his headache without the help of the chair. He managed to register Rise next to him, though. Had she been the one to barge in? How did she know where his room was? What was she talking about just know she was going so fast. Argh those sirens where loud.

...

Wait, sirens?

Matt's body froze for a moment as he slowly turned his head to the window. Sirens. He knew those sirens. This was bad, really bad. Dammit he'd almost slept through them too! No time to think about that now.

Matt was instantly out of bed, stumbling, not balanced at all on his feet, fuck he felt like shit. "W-What's going on!? Who's attacking us!?" He managed before felling over the chair she'd dropped in his room

Yoko was awoken suddenly by the sirens shattering her from her light slumber. Just as quickly she was on her feet and looking paniced. The younger self inside her alert and recalling similiar situations. She shook it off when the familiar voice of Death Scythe echoed in her room from the speakers. She wasn't sure what to do at first. Yoko was gunless. Yoko quickly dressed, hopping on her boots as she ran out the door. The hallway was eeriely quiet as her boots vibrated off the wall just as her voice did as she called out to anyone. There was no reply.

The sirens were even louder outside and she winced a little. There was chaos everywhere. Yoko noticed how people pushed past and ran towards the school. She frowned. They had said to go to the shelter but instead, she ran into a random building, making sure to have everyone escape.

Ed had fallen asleep on a bench in Death City (the bottom of his shirt pushed up just a bit), not too far from the area of the residential district he had been walking around in the day before. He'd been trying to scope out a potential place to stay, since he was pretty well aware at this point how he wasn't going to be staying with everyone else, due to his personal suspicions and opinions. His hood was pulled up over his eyes, even though he was in the shade under the overhang of a building. The air was nice when you weren't in direct sunlight ( ... )

Yoko ran out the building after making sure all the people were safely out, instructing them to run to the shelter as fast as they could. As the group left, the sudden blast from close by sent Yoko falling backward and sliding across the cobble-stoned road. She winced and stood up slowly, dusting what she could off and pulling her hair from their chopsticks. She started to look a bit dirty but that didn't matter. Yoko continued to ensure the others were running to the shelter. She saw a blonde haired boy and frowned running to him, not caring how she looked.

"Hey you need to get to the shelter! Something's going on." she shouted over the sirens and sporatic screams.

Ed stared at the girl once she came up to him, slowly taking his hands away from his ears. He was pretty sure they were still ringing, and he tapped his palm against his ear a few times to try and get his hearing to come back faster. It didn't seem likely that it would recover that fast, and he was already too familiar with what it was like being that close to explosions. At least he hadn't been close enough to get hit with debris this time.

"They probably won't let me in even if I manage to get there." Ed waved her towards the school, where the people seemed to be heading. "If you're with them, you should go. I'll make sure everyone around here is out."

Mei woke up from her sleep to hear a loud noise coming from everywhere. The sirens wouldn't stop and ,for a moment, the poor girl started to panic having no idea what to do. However, when Death Scythe's voice told her what to do...it didn't make the situation much easier. Twenty minutes, she thought to herself, that's not enough time to get to the shelter!

She was quickly dressed and rushed out the door before she decided to make a quick search around the building. She had to make sure everyone got out. After the search, she quickly went outside.

After separating from his previous traveling companion, Ed had circled around, knowing that he had taken up a great deal of time just by being with her. He was thankful, at least, that he knew more about what was going on now, since he had never heard the "Death Scythe's" full instructions ( ... )

After running for a certain amount of time, a familiar voice rang to her ears. Her eyes widen as she looked at the direction of the sound. It was none other than the famous Edward Elric, aka the one who 'supposely' broke her heart.

"What are you doing here, you stupid rice boy?!" She cried out to him but knowing that the danger the both of them were in, she had to make this short. "We have to hurry to the shelter right now!"

"I'M NOT THE ONE WHO DECIDED TO SHOW UP HERE!" Ed yelled back at her, clearly aggravated. But, he was glad to see her. It was nice to know that someone else besides Kimbley was there from his world.

Ed made his way down the rubble, heading over to her. "So you're actually going?" He thought back to earlier, the girl he'd met, and knew that he had to make sure she stayed there too. He didn't want someone coming back out for him.

"Do you know which way to go? I'll come with you."

Reno...normally didn't sleep. Even as a kid he'd just never really slept at all. But when he slept? He SLEPT. Needless to say? He had been completely oblivious to anything and his wake up call was a fist in his face.

The second Cloud's hand had connected with Reno's face his eyes snapped open and his hand reached out and grabbed Cloud's throat in a near death grip. It took him about 20 seconds to fully take in the situation, realise what had happened and let go of the blondes throat. He saw the scrolling text on the computer screen, read it, turned and grabbed Cloud's wrist and just started running, dragging Cloud with him. He didn't CARE if Cloud wanted to play hero or not, this was a fight neither of them could win nor would they be of help in it and they needed to get to that shelter now.

Actually, Reno was in such a rush to get out that he'd forgotten his shoes, something he noticed to late. It actually warranted a small "Fuck." under his breath, the first time he had spoken all morning.

...Right.

Yuffie.

Reno sighed and turned the other way, still dragging Cloud and refusing to let go of his wrist, and still bolting along. If Cloud couldn't keep up...well...Cloud would just have to LEARN to keep up.

"Sorry," he finally muttered, "for earlier." and for last night was almost said but...really? Reno wasn't that sorry for it. He'd wanted to see Cloud, he showed up. Whether or not he was drunk was of no consequence, he barely had any inhibitions as is, he couldn't imagine acting any different if he were sober. "...And for stealing your bed, I guess." That though? He felt a little bad for.

Finally they made it to Yuffies door, and Reno banged on the door as loud as he could. "OI! KLEPTO!"

"Yes!" Patti responded, quickly following after her technician.

It only took a matter of seconds for the carefree weapon to snap into serious-mode. Granted she wasn't as devoted as Liz, and had nowhere near the level of dedication Kid had. Still, Patti was always enthusiastic to help --even if she was a bit erratic at times.

Patti ran. Patti ran fast.

Kid ran the fastest, and it was very clear he felt inadequate to replace his father, the late Shinigami-sama.

Not that Patti was thinking this of course, she was too busy having fun! She ran after Kid, imagining him as a little asymmetrical piggy fluttering in front of her! Patti watched as his little tail curled-- and, hey! He even had those stripes as a piggy! Aww! She was going to capture him and TURN HIM INTO BACON.

There was nothing more important than escaping Death Scythe's care and protecting those he'd accidentally dragged to Death City. Kid could only think of his goal - he could not think about those who were safe in the shelter, about how he would take on several witches single-handedly, or how there was only one set of footsteps following him-

Wait.

He slid to a halt, already well beyond the doors of Shibusen, his gold eyes wide. Spinning around, he spotted Patti immediately, but...

"Where's Liz?" he asked suddenly, hoping to spot her wheezing somewhere behind them, exhausted from the run. No such luck.
