this. Remember those twenty minutes you have to haul your ass to the shelter? You'd better run fast.
(
Birthing a dawn to this endless night. )
The alchemist was never one for sleeping in late, always needing to be up and out doing something in the morning. When he had sensed the sunlight nearby, he had grumbled and turned to curl himself up, facing the back of the bench. Of course, by the time that he had noticed the sunlight and woken up just enough to be semi-conscious, the sirens went off.
Flailing about because of the sudden jolt to his senses, Ed rolled right off of the bench, falling onto the sidewalk. After recovering from his sudden jolt, he stood up and dusted himself off, listening to the voice over the loudspeaker. He couldn't help but grin at the message. Fall out shelter, huh? Looked like it was finally starting... He'd never really gotten a response out of anyone he'd talked to on the specifics, but now looked like a good chance to poke around and figure out stuff for himself.
The only downside was realizing he no longer had his alchemy abilities. He could have easily defended himself with that, but this was different... Weighing his options, he settled for staying outside. With his reluctance to join Shibusen, he was pretty sure they wouldn't let him into the shelter anyway. He was probably viewed as some sort of traitor.
A blast went off, uncomfortably close to Ed's current location, and he put his hands over his ears in an attempt to muffle the sound. Man... This was crazy. He'd had no idea the war was bad enough that they would be attacked this soon.
Heading away from his starting point, he noticed a girl heading past in a getup that was certainly not local. "Hey! You shouldn't be over here!" Ed shouted at her, turning to watch as she ducked into a building. He wasn't sure exactly where that last blast had hit, but it was likely that it was close enough that whatever had caused it could still be around and heading their way.
Ed really hoped it wasn't Kimbley.

"Hey you need to get to the shelter! Something's going on." she shouted over the sirens and sporatic screams.

"They probably won't let me in even if I manage to get there." Ed waved her towards the school, where the people seemed to be heading. "If you're with them, you should go. I'll make sure everyone around here is out."

"Come on..I'm taking you to the shelter." she replied.

Ed started to protest when he felt her pull him in. It took quite a few seconds for everything to process -- the nearby explosion, and his... current position. He shifted a bit in her hold, but her shaking didn't go unnoticed. When she let him go, he stared at her for a moment, and then worked up the best smile he could manage. She seemed like she'd been through something pretty tough, the way she was reacting. She wasn't freaking out the same way normal people were, and though she was trying to keep her cool, Ed could see right through it.
"I'm fine. I can take care of myself. I'm in the military." Ed put his right hand on her shoulder, taking a deep breath to try and calm himself down, holding her gaze. "You'd be better in there with everyone else. They'll probably need someone to keep them calm."

She felt weird for a moment to be so worked up. But then again with wars past, she knew the results all too well. Yoko placed her hand ontop of his and smiled a bit," I hope you run fast. I'm off to go help others."

Ed squeezed her shoulder lightly, then brought his hand back. "I can run a lot faster than you think, trust me." He patted his left leg. "I'll see you there."
He wasn't sure if he would make it in time, but if he came across a group that still needed to go, or someone that was injured, he'd suck it up and make himself go to the shelter. Even if he didn't stay.
