Mukuro enjoyed evenings the most, actually - there was something compelling, something almost romantic, about how things shifted so drastically the moment there was no light. It made certain doing certain things easier, as well.

As such, the Meister was up, about and wandering through the City, taking an hour or so out for himself before returning to his apartment and the precocious little not-child that was his Weapon. He was not expecting to see anyone, much less Sephiroth. He'd recognize those eyes from anywhere.

"Oya, oya. Is it not too late for deep thoughts?"

Sephiroth was pulled out of his thoughts as he sensed another approaching his location. His softly burning gaze shifted over until Mukuro came into sight. There was a desire to feel annoyed over his interrupted solitude, but it was fleeting as the memory of their previous conversation came to mind.

"It is never too late for such thoughts," The ex-General muttered quietly. There was a curiosity within towards the similarity between them, but Sephiroth did everything within his power to keep it from his expression as he stood there regarding the other Meister. "What brings you out so late?"

No open hostility, was it? That was a big change from the usual.

Then again, he really shouldn't be surprised. Not with the way things had turned out during the last time they had talked.

"I am often up this late." Cue Mukuro casting about for a moment - just a moment - before settling on a bench under a tree just behind Sephiroth. "Are you the same?"

The answer didn't really come as any surprise, and Sephiroth did nothing more than remain standing perfectly silent as Mukuro moved around. He had yet to forget the conversation they'd had a few weeks back, and felt the part within that screamed at wanting nothing to do with one so untrustworthy, but it was easy enough to ignore in light of the information given to him the last time they'd spoken.

He took a step back and calmly pivoted his body around to keep Mukuro within sight. A subtle smirk curved on his lips at the question, and he chuckled ever so lightly before answering, "Sleep is something I am in no need of." Typically, anyway, but since arriving Sephiroth had found himself with no other option than to take the odd break to rest his mind every now and again.

Aaaand new thread. Because I am OCD! ;; karmafree August 20 2010, 13:22:56 UTC
"Have you really, though?"

It was, in actuality, a serious question. He wasn't out to mock the other, or drive a point home. Mukuro wanted to see just how far this one - this man/not-man - had gone.

Sephiroth's gaze instantly narrowed at the returned question. The thought that he might have still be chained to ShinRa left him displeased, to say the least, and he was hardly going to allow himself to be associated with the electrical company.

"The moment that I burnt down one of their towns and killed the President I was free of their chains," he said without any doubt within his mind. It was obvious to all but Sephiroth, however, that he still remained unwillingly chained to his past by the hatred he felt.

"I see."

If that was what Sephiroth believed, than that was what he believed. Perhaps, with another person, Mukuro would push a little more, insinuate, make the other doubt.

He'd wonder, at another time, what made this one different.

There was nothing but silence on Sephiroth's end as those simple words. He couldn't help but feel as though there was doubt behind it despite it lacking from Mukuro's tone.

"And what of you?" Sephiroth asked, his voice smooth and calm, "You broken the shackles that you'd once been bound by."
