[video of luck looking pensieve, carefully choosing which words to use.]How many of us have been here for a while? And by 'a while', I mean more than a month, or so. Though I suppose this can also apply to those who've been here for weeks, and have found the city somewhat welcoming to them along with its inhabitants ( Read more... )

[She studies him for a moment with her glasses on the bridge of her nose.]

So you're saying you choose going home over staying regardless of what relationships you gain from here? Thats understandable. We all have our opinions.

I think trying to make the best out of our situation may be best but who is to say that after this war is over and we're all back in our own worlds that--things cross and we meet people again?

A curious possibility. [hmms.] In the event that worlds do cross again, I hope they will be sensible enough not to bring us into something as horrible as another war.

[She smiles.]

I do too. I would prefer meeting everyone again on more peaceful terms.

A fleeting thing, especially in this city. I've known Nevada was tumultuous, but not like this.

[Namine looks equally pensive but this is something that she wonders about too, every day.]

I would choose going back as well. There are things I still have to do. And befriending people here and then leaving...

I believe, and have seen that even if we do forget our experiences here, we will never lose our memories of those bonds. [Her expression grows firmer, just a little.] It just gets displaced, that's all.

That experiences can be 'displaced' is a curious description to use. What do you mean by that?

Exactly what I said. Even if we forget many things because of time or because your memory is tampered, it doesn't mean that you've lost it. It's always there, inside.

I see. There may be some degree of truth in it. Let's hope things are as you say, then. It can give hope to those who are afraid of losing their friends once they leave this place.

I have been here since June 7. [pause] I also came with my meister. It is not an issue for me.

[looking over Germany's shoulder. this is the meister!] I think I'd be really sad to lose the friends I met here!

I understand. When we do return, I am sure that your friends will be sad to part from you as well. [this is all said as gently as he can. to germany:] I suppose you won't run into too much trouble then, unless you have attachments to this world, other than attempting to create order among the guests.

[He considers it carefully, and then:]

My brother here is of a different time as my homeworld.

Returning home should be a given, aru. [ though he knows some people who'd choose otherwise, they don't make any sense to him. ] Regardless of attachments. But I am sure those attachments will leave us. Things must return to normal upon return. If they do not--

... All the more cruel it would be.

True. [spoken gently; or as gently as luck can manage, anyway.] We have no knowledge of whether the ones who return do remember what happened here. I was assuming, however, that to those who do not wish to forget -- perhaps some of them will join their partners to their own worlds, or something like that, though there's an inherent risk in doing so.

... You believe that they could learn to tune their machine finely enough to do that, aru?

I don't know the extent of the machine's abilities. However, the foundation of the world seems to be built in resonation, and partnership. In a way, machines are weapons, as well ... perhaps something can be arranged, who knows. I'm storytelling at this point, however, so don't take my word for it. [slight laughing. YAY LUCK CAN BE HAPPY TOO. :| ]

I do not have any preference, actually.

[At least, not yet.]

I've come to believe that I've done all that I could for the people back in my world. If this place has a use for me, then I am willing to stay. If I end up going back, well... that's just how it goes.
