[video of luck looking pensieve, carefully choosing which words to use.]How many of us have been here for a while? And by 'a while', I mean more than a month, or so. Though I suppose this can also apply to those who've been here for weeks, and have found the city somewhat welcoming to them along with its inhabitants ( Read more... )

Returning home should be a given, aru. [ though he knows some people who'd choose otherwise, they don't make any sense to him. ] Regardless of attachments. But I am sure those attachments will leave us. Things must return to normal upon return. If they do not--

... All the more cruel it would be.

True. [spoken gently; or as gently as luck can manage, anyway.] We have no knowledge of whether the ones who return do remember what happened here. I was assuming, however, that to those who do not wish to forget -- perhaps some of them will join their partners to their own worlds, or something like that, though there's an inherent risk in doing so.

... You believe that they could learn to tune their machine finely enough to do that, aru?

I don't know the extent of the machine's abilities. However, the foundation of the world seems to be built in resonation, and partnership. In a way, machines are weapons, as well ... perhaps something can be arranged, who knows. I'm storytelling at this point, however, so don't take my word for it. [slight laughing. YAY LUCK CAN BE HAPPY TOO. :| ]

Tales are as well as any reality, when there is no reality to follow. But - your duties aside - would you truly wish to go to another's world...? You would be considered mad.

I'll admit that I'm curious about the presence of other worlds than mine, but I wouldn't want to linger for too long. It is only interesting after a few days, then the sheer disparity between my home and the one I've visited will drive me insane, at the worst. Such as now.

This BREW should've dragged my brother instead. He will like the trip. [makes a face. :| ]

Only so much ice cream to investigate, aa?

It should have taken both of you, in that case. But that is... also assuming that the 'time' in your world freezes, upon your leaving.

And only so much heat I can handle. New York wasn't even this bad.

[pause.] Ah. The subject of time. That one, too, I am unsure. I only hope it does, but it sounds ... too much to ask.

New York was very dreary, if I am recalling correctly...

Being sent home at all can seem like too much to ask, aru.

That is true. [laughs] Well, it wasn't the sunniest place in the world, but it'll do. What year do you recall?

On the contrary, aru. There is too much sun.

1960. You are-- far back, yes?

Thirty years back. It wasn't the best place for peace and quiet.

[urk, revolution. a pause.]

No. Things were... very chaotic, everywhere.

Yes. My place, we have gang wars everywhere. Not a pretty sight. [sigh] I hope they're doing fine without me.

Your brother should be very capable, yes? Or... were you the oldest?

I am one of the youngest, actually. I worry about them all the same.
